Social Engineering

Social engineering is a common type of non-technical attack. Attackers using social engineering will often use social etiquette and/or confidence tricks to deceive legitimate users into providing sensitive information.
 
What can I do to protect myself?
 
Users should maintain a healthy level of suspicion when communicating with unknown people. If the person claims to represent a company or department, ask if you can call back and be transferred to his/her telephone. If he/she claims to be from another OSU department, you can attempt to locate them in the OSU Directory.
